Transcripts and verification

Request transcripts

There are two ways for students and alumni to request transcripts of their Virginia Commonwealth University academic record:

  • Transcripts can be ordered by completing the Transcript Request Form or submitting a written request, including signature. Mailed requests should include a check or money order payment. Do not send cash.

Students and alumni with financial holds will not be able to receive a transcript.

Degrees will be posted approximately two weeks after the "Official date for certifying diplomas" listed on the VCU Academic Calendars.  If you are a recent graduate and wish for your degree to appear on your transcript, please wait until after this date to order your official transcript.  Additionally, please check your unofficial transcript on eServices to confirm that your degree has been posted prior to ordering an official transcript.

Transcript Request Form

Official transcripts

Official transcripts are sent via U.S. Postal Service first-class mail, express mail, online PDF or can be picked up by the requester. Mailed copies are only official if in a sealed and stamped Virginia Commonwealth University envelope. Only five transcripts can be requested per day. Allow two business days for processing.

Requests for expedited delivery are accepted at a charge of $30 per copy and will be sent domestically or internationally via USPS express mail.

The records of individuals who attended VCU prior to 1979 may not be computerized, and processing may take up to 10 business days.

Unofficial transcripts

Unofficial transcripts are available to current students and recent alumni via eServices and from the Office of the University Registrar.

Grade mailers

Students who need paper copies of their grades can print them from eServices or submit the Grade Mailer Request Form

Request verification

Virginia Commonwealth University has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide enrollment and degree verifications. Current students can receive free enrollment verification by clicking the Enrollment Verification link in the VCU portal. Employers should go directly to the NSC to request degree verifications.

Current and former students may also submit the Request for Information or Verification form to the Office of the University Registrar.
