Transcripts and verification
There are two ways for students and alumni to request transcripts of their Virginia Commonwealth University academic record:
- Transcripts are available through the National Student Clearinghouse at a charge of $7.90 per copy for printed transcripts and $8.90 for PDF transcripts. PDF transcripts are only available to students who were in attendance in 1989 or later. Prices include the additional service charge of $2.90 per order. To track the status of your order, go to the National Student Clearinghouse transcript status site.
- Transcripts can be ordered by completing the Transcript Request Form or submitting a written request, including signature. Mailed requests should include a check or money order payment. Do not send cash.
Students and alumni with financial holds will not be able to receive a transcript.
Official transcripts are sent via U.S. Postal Service first-class mail, express mail, online PDF or can be picked up by the requester. Mailed copies are only official if in a sealed and stamped Virginia Commonwealth University envelope. Only five transcripts can be requested per day. Allow two business days for processing.
Requests for expedited delivery are accepted at a charge of $25 per copy and will be sent domestically or internationally via USPS express mail.
The records of individuals who attended VCU prior to 1979 may not be computerized, and processing may take up to 10 business days.
Unofficial transcripts are available to current students and recent alumni via eServices and from Records and Registration.
Students who need paper copies of their grades can print them from eServices or submit the Grade Mailer Request Form
Virginia Commonwealth University has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide enrollment and degree verifications. Current students can receive free enrollment verification by clicking the Enrollment Verification link in the VCU portal. Employers should go directly to the NSC to request degree verifications.
Current and former students may also submit the Request for Information or Verification form to Records and Registration.
